Creative HeARTS is a structured art/craft program for adults 18 years and over with mental and or physical disabilities.
Recently, Nancy Skeddle and Vanessa Kriebel discussed the program with members of the Clarion Rotary Club.
“Classes are held every Wednesday starting in June at 11:00 a.m. beginning with a social time (bag lunch invited) and continues with the art or craft of the day,” said Skeddle.
“The fee for this class is $5.00 and includes all materials. An aide, family member, or a friend of the student must be with the individual throughout the class time and are invited to also participate for a fee of $5.00.”
Skeddle and Kriebel are unpaid and supply the costs for the program along with donations of material.
The goals and objectives of the Creative HeARTS program are:
- To provide structured classes in a group setting.
- To have students learn art skills and use and use of materials.
- To promote development of independent participation in activities.
- To create art objectives which can be shared with the community.
- To provide opportunities for socialization.
