Nestled among the hemlock and pine of Pennsylvania’s Cook Forest lies Gateway Lodge – a grand getaway destination with the intimate feel of a bed and breakfast.

In recent years the lodge added over 20 modern spacious suites, most featuring a private outdoor balcony with a forest view, plus an in-room Jacuzzi adjoining a gas fireplace.

This place is not worth it

start with this – they changed the person limit for the wedding reservation I had set. It was lowered a month before my wedding. I wound up having to cancel my wedding plans a month out. I should’ve ditched the place then and there, but I gave them a second chance and got a “luxury” cabin to rent for the wedding. We had to bus people to the cabin because the parking lot was too small. Also, the cabin was infested with wasp nests! We counted 5 all together. On top of that, the hot tub didn’t work for the first two nights until someone finally came and fixed it. We did eat at the restaurant, but it was unreasonably expensive. The food was not worth the price. Would not recommend and will never come here again.

Great Birthday wknd!

4/ 5

This is our second time staying at the Gateway Lodge and it was wonderful! We stayed in the cabins last year and in the lodge this year which was much better. I would recommend the cabin’s in the summer. The lodge is a beautiful, sprawling place with many amenities. The breakfast and dinner’s were awesome. We had the friendliest waitress named Robin who was a delight! Thanks for another great birthday wknd getaway and we will be sure to come back again!

Spoke with management

2/ 5

First let me say that I have not actually stayed at the lodge as of yet. This review is based on my experience over the phone with management. My husband and I wanted to know what the policy was to reschedule a reservation that we would be making in December. We were concerned that should ta snow storm or ice storm occur on the day we planned to travel that we may not be able to get there as we are four and a half hours away from the lodge. The reservation specialist was friendly and transferred me to a manager. When the manager answer the phone she went right into the cancellation policy without acknowledging me being on the line. She did not ask me what questions I wanted to have answered, but continued to state the hotels policy. About 3 minutes into her disclosure she made a statement about wondering if I was there on the other line but had never given me a chance to even greet her. Basically she told me that if there was bad weather in our area that the lodge would check with our locale to make sure we were specifically told not to leave our house( state of emergency) and then we would be allowed to reschedule our visit. If not no refund. She said even if there was snow and ice and it wasn’t a state of emergency we would not be refunded or rescheduled. I was super disappointed because I really wanted to come here for a special visit with my husband while my daughter is away in Florida. I did not feel as if this particular manager whose name I will not mention cared about my specific situation. We were looking at spending about $1,000. to stay and I would have hoped that the lodge would have been more considerate. The Gateway Lodge seems to be less concerned with guests safety. This whole experience didn’t make me feel very comfortable about booking a room with them.
