COOK FOREST, Pa. — This August, step into a world of enchantment, mystery, and unexpected twists as Brookville Community Theater brings the beloved musical Into the Woods to life at the Sawmill Center for the Arts in Cooksburg, PA.

Written by James Lapine with music and lyrics by the legendary Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods weaves together the tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Jack (of beanstalk fame) into a rich, layered story that explores the consequences of wishes and the complexity of happily ever after.

At the heart of the story is a childless baker and his wife, desperate to lift a generational curse placed by a mysterious witch. Their quest leads them deep into the woods, where they cross paths with familiar fairy tale characters—each on their own journey of longing, growth, and discovery. As their stories intertwine, the musical reveals that every wish comes with a price, and every path holds unexpected turns.
