COOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) – Enjoy some old-fashioned winter family fun this weekend at the annual “Snowman in the Forest” event, hosted by Cook Forest Vacation Bureau.
The event will be held Saturday, February 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the new River Pavilion by the playground on River Road, located about one mile up the river from the Route 36 Cooksburg Bridge.
The day will be filled family-friendly activities in Cook Forest. There will be carriage rides, sledding, ice skating, snowman building, a “Happy Dog” contest, a chili cook-off, and much more. Visitors are encouraged to explore the winter trails, and if you’re lucky, you might even see Smokey Bear.
Schedule of events:
- 11:30 a.m. – Chili cook-off (hot and mild divisions)
- 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Carriage rides, sledding, snowman building, ice skating (ice skates available)
- 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Snowshoe interpretive hike within the old-growth forest along Cook Trail; meet at the new River Pavilion
- 1:00 p.m. – Happy Dog Contest
Be sure to sample the chili during the chili cook-off, and cheer on furry friends in the Happy Dog Contest.
Hot cocoa and coffee will be available to help keep you warm.
